General information

Background: Barnwood CofE Primary was founded in 1874 as a local church school. It moved to new buildings with landscaped grounds in 1989 and is now situated in a suburb on the eastern edge of Gloucester. Last year, out of 34 children in the leaving class, 22 went on to grammar schools. Despite this, the intake is described as 'average'. The school has topped the city's league tables for the last two years. There is a 'strong' family, community feel to the school and the choir sings in local music festivals. School services are 'regularly' held in the local church. Each year the school raises money for charities including Cancer Research and NSPCA. The school's rugby team has won the local shield competition. 'Our aim is for all our school citizens to be given the opportunities of maximising their full potential while positively contributing to the development of others.' .
