General information

Background: Built in 1967, the present site is located to the south east of Cheltenham, bounded by the Cotswold hills. The catchment area is mixed, with an assortment of housing, and 'still retains a great deal of its village atmosphere' despite being considered a suburb of Cheltenham. A number of the current parents were at the school themselves. Since becoming grant maintained in 1994 the school has added three further classrooms, a group teaching room, and an information communication technology suite. In about three out of four year groups the school is over-subscribed. Extra-curricular activities range from art and choir, to environmental and Christian clubs, a wide variety of sports are also played, within these activities there is a 'very real atmosphere of co-operation and enjoyment amongst staff and pupils'. Achievments in music and drama led to the school being given the 'Award of Excellence' by the Grant Maintained Schools Association. The school's aims and development plan are to provide 'the best possible education for all pupils in a caring and secure environment with a staff committed to providing that education in co-operation with each other, the parents the governors and the local community.' .
