Major improvements in school buildings have recently been completed. These include new sports and arts facilities, floodlit courts and an art gallery. Further new building is underway to upgrade the sixth form, English, drama, Modern Foreign Languages and music. A new sixth form centre and drama studio will form part of the development. The school's sports field cover 38-acres and have been upgraded in line with the new physical education facilities. ICT is used across the curriculum to enhance learning and data-rich assessment is used to drive a personalised mentoring system. A full range of competitive sports for girls and boys is pursued. Levels of participation are high and competition high. The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is popular, making the school the biggest centre in the south-west region. The school is now the sports academy in association with Cheltenham Rugby Club. Extra-curricular activities available at the school are hockey, rugby, football, netball, cricket, tennis, athletics and fitness training. It has regional and national players at hockey, county players at rugby, netball and cricket, and numerous district players in all sports. The school has a purpose-built sports hall that is shared with the community and a gymnasium. Pupils have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of team games and individual sporting activities. The school aims to maximise the performance of all students through high quality teaching and learning which motivates, challenges and empowers.
