General information

Background: Farmor's School was founded in 1738 and moved to its present site in 1961. It is located in a predominantly rural area. It has close links with primary schools in Bibury, Down Ampney, Fairford, Hatherop, Kempsford, Meysey Hampton, Southrop and St Lawrence, Lechlade, and also has a significant intake from St Sampson's in Cricklade, Ampney Crucis and from the independent sector. The school occupies 18 acres of grounds and playing fields. School teams have achieved county and district successes in netball, cricket, hockey, tennis, football, rounders, rugby and basketball. A new design and technology block was completed in 1993, followed by the Forum Arts Theatre in 1995, IT and sixth form accommodation in 1996, and a learning resource centre, four new classrooms and an administration suite in 1998. Three further classrooms and an extension to the Forum were added in 2000 and much of the school was redecorated during 2001. Foreign links and trips are available to pupils. More than 200 students have instrumental lessons, and there are orchestras, groups, ensembles and a choir. The school became a specialist Business and Enterprise College in September 2004. A brand new business centre and science block was opened during 2004. The school aims to develop in every young person the skills and attributes which will enable them to be successful in wider society. .
