General information

Background: Glenfall School was opened as a one-form entry primary school in 1972. The school gets its name from Glenfall House, which is situated, on high ground between Ham and Cheltenham. The school building is well equipped with seven classrooms, practical areas and a large hall. In recent years a central courtyard was converted into a modern library, which is a wonderful resource for the children. It now houses a recently opened computer suite. Much of the school campus has been and continues to be developed as an outdoor classroom. This offers many opportunities to extend the curriculum outside the school buildings, as well as facilitating constructive play at breaktime. In 1995 the school received an award for this initiative from Cheltenham Civic Arts Council. The school curriculum contains core and foundation subjects. The core subjects are English, mathematics, science and information and communication technology and the foundation subjects are design technology, history, geography, art, music and physical education. The school provides a wide range of extra-curricular activities catering for a variety of interests including football, hockey, computing, drama, art, gymnastics, netball, tennis and cricket. Other areas include recorders, school orchestra and country dancing. The school aims to provide a happy, secure and supportive environment which enables all children to achieve their potential academically, socially, spiritually and emotionally.
