General information

Background: Modern village primary school set in spacious grounds, five miles from Cheltenham Spa; modern single-storey brick building completed in 1984; offers an exciting curriculum that is both broad and imaginative; particularly proud of achievements in mathematics, English, ICT, and science. Grouping by ability encourages pupils to work to full potential, while topic approach to foundation, subjects enhanced by guest speakers and class visits, ensures learning is exciting. Pupils develop ICT skills in new, purpose-built computer suite. School has excellent sporting reputation in athletics, football, netball, cross-country, rounders and cricket; strong music tradition, with many groups and large orchestra, which successfully competes in local festivals. Dance and drama also have high profile. Rotary Club has awarded school the Peter Petrie Cup for service to the community. Active Friends of the School Association organises regular events. One of only 40 schools invited by Ofsted to train teachers as part of the Post-graduate Teacher Training in Outstanding Primary Schools scheme. Before-school care, from 8am, in conjunction with local nursery school; after-school care, until 6pm. Gloucestershire County Council accreditation award for self-evaluation (2005); Healthy School award (2005); DfES achievement award (2003).
