General information

Background: The School was founded by Sir William Romney in 1610 as Tetbury Grammar School. After a time as a bilateral school, the school opened on new premises as a comprehensive school in 1969. The school has extensive playing fields and good specialist accommodation. There is an outdoor heated swimming pool, seven tennis/netball courts and a well-equipped gymnasium. In addition to the school's facilities is a sports hall for joint school and community use. This provides enhanced sporting opportunities, including access to a fully equipped fitness room. In recent years new accommodation has been provided at the school to meet changing curriculum needs. Improved facilities are now in operation for ICT, DT food, DT textiles and the most recent addition, a new music room. A wide range of activities is on offer to students. These include school teams in rugby, football, netball, hockey, cross-country, basketball, cricket, tennis, rounders and athletics. Instrumental lessons are on offer for all the main orchestral instruments, saxophone and guitar from specialist county teachers. A large number of visits are arranged each year. There are three computer rooms for students to use for their work. There is at least one networked computer in every classroom for use by staff or students. The school aims to enable each student to achieve the highest personal success possible in an atmosphere of support and care.
