General information

Background: Founded in 1539 in the school room of St Mary de Crypt in Gloucester, the school is now set in 32 acres of grounds on the southwest of the city. It has been grant-maintained since April 1992. The buildings date from 1938, and modern additions include an athletics track and a swimming pool. The 'strong sporting tradition' is particularly maintained in cricket, athletics and tennis. In addition, pupils have gained England caps in rugby and the school has produced an England under-18 women's hockey captain. A quarter of pupils play musical instruments. Sponsorship from industry is available for sixth-form engineers.
