General information
Headteacher: Judi Swinney.
Background: Ravenscourt Theatre School was founded in 1989 by Sir Robin Phillips following the closure of Corona Academy on the retirement of its principal. Corona was a very successful school running for some forty years in Hammersmith and producing top stars of stage and screen. Sir Robin ran the Corona agency for many years and most of the traditions of Corona were incorporated into the Ravenscourt Theatre School including the uniform and the teaching format with full academic studies in the morning and vocational training in the afternoon.
Inspection: July 2006: ?Ravenscourt Theatre School has successfully addressed a significant proportion of the weaknesses identified at the time of the previous inspection in November 2005. Senior staff have reviewed and amended the curriculum, which is now broader and more suited to the needs of pupils. Teaching is better planned and there are new systems in place to compare pupils? attainment to national standards. Some policies have been reviewed and updated. Information provided by the school, particularly to parents, is now far more comprehensive. The school now meets more regulations than at the time of the previous inspection; however, there is still a significant proportion of regulations with which the school does not yet comply.?.
Boys' age range: 8 to 16.
Girls' age range: 8 to 16.
