General information

Background: Chalk Ridge Primary was founded in 1974 in 'extensive' grounds which include two playgrounds, a purpose-built play area, two football pitches, an athletics track and a jumping pit. Pupils use these facilities for a wide variety of after-school ativities including athletics, football, rounders, cricket and netball in addtition to drama, choir and steel pan drum playing. The coaching given by the Basingstoke Town Football Club paid off when the school won a Basingstoke football trophy in 1992 and 1993, won the plate competition in 1998 and 1999 and the local 6-a-side football competitions in 1992, 1993, 1996 and 1999. The school also receives coaching from the Hampshire County Cricket Club. Children raise funds for charity at harvest, Christmas and on Comic Relief and Children in Need days.
