General information

Background: In 1887 the school opened as Stroud Green and Hornsey High School, a secondary school for girls built by the Church school?s company on Church land. Within a few years the school adopted the name of St Aidan?s. The school comprises a modern main building and nursery but maintains one of its original features, the Victorian school hall. The school has a pond and wildlife garden and the playground consists of all-weather courts, a large open area and a climbing frame. Two libraries exist in school and the children also have access to Park Road swimming pool. Children in each year-group have the opportunity to go on variety of educational visits throughout the year. Music forms part of every class programme. Children learn to sing, compose, play percussion instruments, and appreciate music. St Aidan?s offers a curriculum that is broad, balanced and relevant to the needs of the children. St Aidan's Primary School is the only voluntary controlled school in London. From this unique position it aims to provide high quality education through which all its children will become independent, confident and successful learners; work and play co-operatively and take responsibility for their actions.
