General information

Background: Stanburn Middle opened as infant and junior schools in 1938 during the inter-war expansion of north-west London, and became first and middle schools in 1978. A two-storey extension and temporary huts were later addded to the original buildings. The school has specialised teaching areas for music, ICT, science and design technology, food technology, a library, resources room and welfare room. Sports and music feature 'strongly' on the programme of extra-curricular activities. Pupils may choose to learn woodwind, brass, percussion, string or keyboard instruments and may join the band, choirs or orchestra. At the LEA's music concert, Stanburn pupils were awarded a Certificate of Honour for their performance. Other after school activities include gymnastics, chess, science, French, dance, drama and 'quest club'. Links are fostered with Stanmore Baptist Church and pupils raise funds for Variety, the NSPCC, Jeans for Genes and Blue Peter.
