General information

Background: Situated on the southern edge of Hartlepool; serves a residential area with 'little social disadvantage'. Built in 1965, it originally operated as separate infant and junior schools; they were amalgamated in 1985 under one headteacher. Situated on a large, pleasant, open site, the school comprises a two-storey junior building joined to a single-storey infant building. A few extra-curricular sporting and musical activities are offered. The school's 'excellent' football teams regularly represent the town in area competitions. There are also music and drama productions. The school undertakes at least four charity fundraising events each year for local, national and international causes. Focal point of local community; a particular strength is the liaison with the local comprehensive school. There are also regular visits from representatives of local churches; good support given by local industries and small businesses. Parent-teacher association, Friends of Fens, raises funds for the school as well as organising social events for the school and wider community. Before-school care, from 7.55am.
