General information

Background: Goodrich Church of England is a Voluntary Controlled School. The school was originally founded by the Church about 150 years ago and later they passed control over to Herefordshire County Council. It is situated in the picturesque of Wye Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The school is currently based in a 150-year-old Victorian building with three temporary classrooms and an adjoining schoolhouse, which has been converted into an administration block. This was replaced in spring 2001 by a brand new school, which is being built in the same grounds. The village contains Goodrich Castle, an English Heritage site where some pupils? have contributed to the design of a stained glass window. The school remains a focal point in the community with local residents helping with extra-curricular activities such as French, hockey, football, drama, athletics, chess, gardening and gymnastics and the school has been made a satellite school for the Forest of Dean Gymnastic Centre of Excellence. Goodrich is proud of its fund raising activities for many charities and maintains strong links with Kisiiro Primary School in Uganda and Pembroke House School in Kenya. Warm and friendly under a broadly Christian Umbrella.
