General information
Background: Opened in 1963 as a secondary modern, the school became a comprehensive in 1971, when the buildings were also extended. It is in an 'idyllic' setting south of Weobley village and surrounded by playing fields that are bordered by farmland and parkland. Most pupils arrive by school bus from the surrounding villages. The school is not over-subscribed. It has a 'reputation' for sporting and musical activites. There are facilities and staffing for Balanced Science for all, a multi-media workshop for technology, and although slightly dated, the level of computer provision is above-average. Golf coaching is also offered. 'The school is generally friendly, purposeful and caring. The school attempts to improve the lot of those who are shy, timid or academically less able as well as providing sound education for the strong and bright.' .
