General information
Background: Plockton High School serves a 'very wide' area and has its own hostel to accommodate pupils living outside the daily travelling distance of the school. There are two main buildings, 'attractively' set in their own grounds, and also playing fields, adjoining the main campus. Within school hours, the 'thriving' house system enables intra-school sporting and multi-activity competitions. Clubs and societies include rugby, hockey, football, shinty, basketball, badminton, golf, canoeing, brass band, scene book, French, Duke of Edinburgh Award, Young Enterprise, athletics and cross-country, debating and speech making, Young Engineers, music and drama. The learning support department provides 'appropriate' support for all pupils who require it, by working with class teachers, direct teaching with small groups and individuals and providing an individualised curriculum in the school's special unit for pupils with 'severe and profound learning difficulties'.
