General information

Background: The school was founded in 1859 as Spring Grove National School, under the jurisdiction of the Church of England. It is now housed in a purpose-built building dating from 1963, set in open grounds in a low-level residential area. Extra-curricular clubs include chess, gardening, sewing, football, netball, rounders and a French club, which is 'particularly popular'. There is an active 'friends of the school' group which organises events for children, adults and members of the wider community. It is a 'very popular school in the locality', with many applications from outside the catchment area, and both the nursery and the school are over-subscribed.
