General information

Background: Believed to have been in existence at previous site in Acton Lane in the mid-18th century; present school opened in 1964, housed in a large, 'old but sturdy' Victorian building. Three floors comprise eight form rooms, music room, art and craft room, library and state-of-the-art information and communication technology suite, dinner hall, hall/gymnasium, medical room and offices. Accepts Catholic pupils from Chiswick's two parishes; numbers have risen steadily over the the last four years. In addition to the National Curriculum, pupils have the opportunity to study French and Italian. Extensive after-school programme: netball, football; also boasts 'very strong' musical tradition: individual tuition in the piano, string instruments, drums, flute, recorder and brass is available. Provision for pupils with special educational needs is offered in the classroom, in small groups, and individually. The school is not suitable for pupils with physical disabilities due to the nature of the accommodation. An after-school club which includes tea is offered until 5.30pm at a small charge. The school association works closely with the local community to raise funds for the school; annual donations made to the Catholic Children's Society, CAFOD and NSPCC. After-school care, until 5.30pm. Over-subscribed, with 1.5 applications per place. DfES achievement awards (2000, 2001, 2002). Ethos: 'The thoughts, actions, love and care inspired by the teaching of the gospel.' .
