General information

Background: Opened in 1886; intake is predominantly Roman Catholic and drawn from many cultural and ethnic backgrounds; one the largest primary schools in the borough; diversity of languages and socio-economic backgrounds. The school ethos is based on 'learning our faith, living our faith and loving our faith'. Pupils support Catholic missions throughout the world. The local priests play an active role in the life of the school, and there is also an active after-school association. The school puts on carol singing for charity and Christmas nativities in old people's homes. Clubs include chess, art, basketball, hockey, Scrabble, rugby, football gaelic football. The school also has French for infants and an after-school French club. Remodelling of building undertaken to provide more extra-curricular activities. Training school for Catholic Certificate in Religious Studies. Over-subscribed, with 1.3 applications per place. Schools Curriculum Award.
