General information

Background: Bishops Down County Primary School is a Kent county partnership mainstream school admitting boys and girls from three to 11 years of age. The school, built in 1967, is housed in a single-storey building, mobile classroom and separate library, set on a quiet, elevated and wooded site. The classrooms are light and spacious. It has a large hall used for physical education, drama, concerts, mid-day lunches and community events. Information and Communication Technology (IT) is concerned with the handling and processing of information using electronic devices. The hall is used as a gymnasium and has a wide variety of apparatus so children can undertake various activities in order to acquire control, coordination and versatility in the use of the body. There are several opportunities for individual instrumental tuition and group playing. Football, netball, athletics, gym and cricket clubs are well attended in the appropriate season. The school gym club offers classes at different levels of challenge. Chess club and recorder clubs take place at lunchtime. The school aims to provide a happy, stimulating, secure and friendly learning environment where each child's contribution is encouraged and valued.
