General information

Background: Founded in 1893, the school moved to its current site in 1926. The main building, with impressive frontage and distinctive quadrangle, is surrounded by playing fields and is in the centre of a residential area 10 minutes from centre of Gravesend. The interior has been modified to meet curriculum needs and the expansion resulted in excellent facilities across the curriculum. New science block in 2004. The school has strong community links, and ties with industry and commerce, it also holds an extensive use of information technology. all students study two modern languages at Key Stage 3; pioneering developments in work-shadowing, European work-experience and industry-linked curriculum projects. Specialist science college status from September 2004. Over-subscribed, with more than two applications per place. Investor in Careers (2003); Artsmark Silver (2003, 2006); Sportsmark (2002, 2005); Investor in People status (2003, 2005); DfES achievement award (2002, 2003).
