General information

Background: Situated in the village of Leybourne on the outskirts of the county town of Maidstone, the school occupies ten acres of wonderful grounds. These comprise quiet areas and a nature area with pond and stream, in addition to two grass playing fields and two playgrounds. The school mainly serves pupils from a modern housing development in the local village, and the church parish, and is regularly oversubscribed. There have been several additions to the buildings over the last century, though they originally date from 1876. The school tries to value all children, no matter what their level or area of ability. There is a good level of support from a co-ordinator for those with learning difficulties. All Years have access to the internet from their classrooms, and support to the curriculum is also sought through outside school visits and visits from drama groups and artists. Pupils participate successfully in local football, netball, rounders and athletics tournaments each year, and can also join various extra-curricular musical groups. Links with the community are strong, especially with the church which is situated opposite the school. Children raise funds during the year for several local and international charitable causes. There is a very active Parents, Teachers and Friends Association which hosts lively social events and raises money for school equipment. Parents are encouraged to continue the process of learning for their children within the home environment. The school continually strives to provide the best for its children within a context of Christian values.
