General information
Background: Saint George's Church of England School is a secondary school and sixth form for boys and girls. The age range of the pupils is 11 to 18. It was founded in 1580. The school has the most superb playing fields, plus a sports hall and a gymnasium. There is a strong games tradition and a very good record of success in recent years. Rugby, football, hockey, netball, cricket and athletics are the main sports and there are several school teams in all these sports. The department also runs the school ski trip, which for the last three years has gone to Austria. Indoor sports such as basketball, badminton and gymnastics take place in lessons and after-school. The school aims to provide a calm, positive and purposeful environment.
