General information

Background: The school was founded in 1867 to provide education for all children in a Christian context, and continues to do so, whatever the religious conviction of childrens' parents. It is one of two primary schools serving the village of Snodland. Originally an industrial village, it now houses predominantly commuters, but there is a significant core of families who have lived in Snodland for generations and the village community feeling remains. The school occupied its original Victorian building until the 1970s when it moved to its current site where it is now housed in three buildings, Ash, Larch and Oak. A broad and balanced curriculum is offered and a 'wide variety' of extra-curricular activities includes music, drama, computers, art and sport. The choir entertains local old folk and the school has a particular reputation for athletics, having won the district sports in 15 of the the last 16 years. There are football, netball and korfball clubs for all Key Stage 2 children. Unusually, the school offers a ski club and a week's skiing holiday in Austria every other year. Year 6 pupils also have the opportunity to take part in a residential visit to the Arethusa activity centre. All year groups go on at least one day visit every year. The school provides 'a full, balanced and varied education in a caring and supportive environment'.
