General information

Background: Serving the Shepway district, the school is set in extensive grounds on a hillside overlooking the sea. Facilities include specialist laboratories, mathematics rooms, technology suite, languages and humanities rooms, business studies and information technology suite, art and design rooms including dark room and pottery, music rooms including practice rooms and a high-technology recording studio, two libraries, two gymnasia, two halls, drama room and sixth-form common rooms. Admission to the school in Year 7 is through the Kent selection procedure. It aims for 'excellence in every aspect of education' and consistently figures prominently in comparative national statistics. The school offers 25 established and successful courses at A-level and every girl is expected to achieve good grades in at least nine subjects at GCSE. A 'lively approach' to learning beyond the formal curriculum means that girls can enjoy a diverse range of activities in music, drama, art and sport. Girls perform successfully at local, national and international level. The opportunities for involvement are 'legion' and although the main objective is personal development and enjoyment, the standards achieved are 'of the highest order'.
