General information

Background: The school prides itself on its long tradition of academic excellence and all round achievement. It sets in extensive grounds and enjoys a beautiful semi-rural setting. Its most recent building, the Wilmington Learning Centre was opened in September 2004, which reflects the school's commitment to ICT as a specialist maths and computing college. In addition there are three fully equipped computer suites, a full range of specialist teaching rooms, laboratories and technology rooms and a well stocked library, cared by a librarian. Tennis and netball courts are adjacent to the main building and the manor grounds are also used for rounders. The Modern Foreign Languages and mathematics departments have been awarded County Beacon status. The school has strong links with business and the local community. Every form and associated house raises money for charity. £6000 is raised annually. Many of our older students are millennium volunteers and are involved with the Dartford Youth Council. Students are encouraged to take on roles of responsibility to be able to both lead a team and be an effective team member. Large numbers of students take up the challenge of the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme. The school takes a leading role in hosting neighbourhood engineer challenges. As an Oracle Internet Academy, Oracle courses are available in the sixth form. The school organises educational visits for all year groups in addition to skiing, water sport activity holidays and study tours to France and Germany. The school has high expectations for all its pupils. Every girl is encouraged to enjoy her learning, be ambitious and strive for excellence. Within strong pastoral framework girls develop confidence, a sense of responsibility and respect for others.
