General information
Background: The Wildernesse School is a wide-ability foundation school for boys between the ages of 11 to 19. It is situated in 30 acres of beautiful fields and woodland on the outskirts of Sevenoaks close to Seal village. All buildings are purpose-designed, permanent structures mostly dating from 1950s and 1970s and have been well maintained and modified as necessary. The school has a large assembly hall, five science laboratories, fully equipped technology rooms and workshops, art studios and a drama studio. ICT facilities are constantly developing and expanding. There are four well equipped computer suites, which, along with the library are networked and on-line for broadband internet. The Wildernesse sports centre, a separate building in the school grounds containing a large hall for indoor sports, three squash courts, changing room and a viewing gallery. A fitness multi-gym is located in a separate block. Outdoors there are large hard-standing playground areas, six tennis courts and several acres of fields with soccer, rugby and cricket pitches and athletics facilities. In 1999 the school became a foundation school with Kent local education authority and since September 2003 it has been a specialist school in Mathematics and Computing. The school has a strong tradition in a competitive environment. This school plays many friendly matches and also competes in the local West Kent and Kent Knock Out Cups. The school places importance in encouraging boys to take part in a wide range of cultural and sporting activities. Activities include: art club, athletics, badminton, computer club, cross-country, drama club, electronics club, engineering club, squash, table tennis and cricket. It also organises a wide range of trips to parts of United Kingdom and countries abroad. The school has also achieved the following awards: Sportsmark and Specialists Schools trust award. The school aims to provide caring and supportive environment that will enable each boy to enter the adult world property equipped to be a good citizen. .
