General information

Background: Wilmington Grammar School for Boys is in the largely rural northwest corner of Kent, surrounded by green belt and ancient Heathland. It also attracts pupils from Dartford and the London Boroughs of Bromley and Bexley. The school became a boys' grammar in 1982. It was designated as a Specialist Engineering College in September 2004. There are 35 acres of playing fields, tennis courts, running track and woods. The school has an extensive computer network, fully refurbished science laboratories, well-equipped facilities for design, electronics and technology, stage lighting for drama and music, a sports hall and gymnasium. The school offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities in sport, indoor clubs and societies, and outdoor pursuits. An extensive programme of school journeys, at home and abroad, takes place annually. It maintains business and community links, and regular links with the continent. Soccer and rugby are notable among its sporting successes. The school aims to encourage all students to develop their potential to the full in a caring and structured environment.
