It was reorganised in 1974 and the sixth form was added in 1979. The school, an 11-19 mixed Roman Catholic Voluntary Aided Comprehensive School, has about 1200 pupils on roll, including 200 in the sixth form. Religious education lies at the core of the curriculum for all pupils and is in accordance with the teachings of Church. The school aims to create a community in which individuals respect each other regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or position.
