General information

Background: Archbishop Summer School is a Church of England Voluntary Aided school dating from 1871. Originally, it consisted of three separate schools; one for boys, one for girls and another for infants. It encourages pupil confidence through performance in annual concerts and productions, and by their contribution to assemblies, reading aloud or leading prayers. The school considers these to be an essential part of the children's development and invests considerable time and energy into providing stimulating experiences beyond the classroom. The school has devised its own curriculum for religious education, which takes into account the cultural backgrounds of its children. A Christian school which is very inclusive. All staff work hard with children to form very positive relationships.
