General information
Background: The school was opened in 1875, the school is located in the extreme south-east of Leicestershire on an extremely attractive site with views of farmland and nearby Rockingham Castle. It serves a number of villages and hamlets, mostly owner-occupied, and also attracts a significant number of pupils from neighbouring Northamptonshire. Its spacious grounds offer playing fields, two playgrounds and an environmental area with pond. In addition to National Curriculum subjects children can learn French. Special educational needs (SEN) is 'very well resourced' with a large variety of materials, computer programmes, and a part-time SEN teacher. The school encourages a variety of sports and coaches are invited to teach cricket, rugby and football. In 2001, Bringhurst Primary football team won the local league and a number of local tournaments. The school is also a past winner of the Telegraph Schools Newspaper competition. The strong parent-teachers association raises large amounts of money and pupils raise funds for charity.
