General information
Background: Great Dalby Primary is a village school, which was founded in 1876. Its catchment area includes the villages of Great Dalby, Thorpe Satchville, Twyford and Burough-on-the-Hill but increasingly children are also joining the school from nearby Melton Mowbray through parental choice. The school also provides various extra-curricular clubs for children including art, recorder, chess and sports while some children benefit from peripatetic music lessons. The school is proud of its sporting achievements and in 1999 won the girls Leicestershire Primary Schools Cross Country League. The school has close links with other nearby schools. The school aims to provide a supportive and secure learning environment, in which children find learning challenging and enjoyable.
