General information

Background: John Cleveland College is a secondary school and sixth form for boys and girls. The age range of the pupils is 14 to 18. The College is located in a pleasant site on the outskirts of Hinckley overlooking a golf course and open countryside. The main buildings were constructed between 1964 and in the mid-1970s and there has been a continuing process of updating and refurbishment. Each subject area has a purpose built accommodation. In addition there is a sixth form centre, computerised library and resource centre, drama workshop and swimming pool. There are extensive facilities for gym and sports with 30 acres of playing fields. The school has a reputation for sporting excellence that is second to none among schools in Leicestershire and the Midlands, having won more county championships in the major sports than any other school over the last 10 years. Students are offered the opportunity to take part in many national and international tours, with the netball club travelling to the Mediterranean and the Southern Hemisphere and the rugby club touring Canada every two years. The school aims to provide a safe and pleasant place in which to learn and where there is respect for self, for others and for the environment.
