General information

Background: Originally the village school, Orchard CofE Primary transferred to its new site in 1976 following the expansion of the village. The school has 'pleasant' grounds backing onto fields which the parents' association has developed with climbing frames and benches. Plans for a wild life garden are underway. The parents' association's efforts have also supported the building of a purpose-built library and music room. Orchard Primary views its extra-curricular sports, French, chess, dance, newspaper, computer, first aid and cycling proficiency clubs as a 'strength'. It has also collaborated on a number of ventures with local churches and other schools to mark the launch of the National Year of Reading and Music Day. Each year, a different charity or appeal benefits from the pupils' fundraising efforts, and their collection of Christmas boxes for Kosovo was 'notably successful'.
