General information

Background: Though its roots go back to 1837, the school moved to its current site on attractive grounds only in 1989, where it has a catchment area of three villages. Facilities are excellent, with a recent new-build of three classrooms. The school has received awards from the Young Ornithological Club for its nature reserve, which includes a small pond. Staff aim to instil pupils with 'security and confidence'; parents considered to have joint responsibility for their children's education. The Friends of Ellison Boulters School offer support by organising social functions throughout the year. Physical education is split into the areas of athletics, dance, games, gymnastics, outdoor and adventurous activities, and swimming. Pupils participate in inter-school tournaments in team games and can also take part in other extra-curricular activities. Links with the community are strong, with services regularly held in the local church and children distributing harvest gifts to residents. After-school care, until 6pm. Beacon status (1998, 2001); Artsmark Silver; training school status. Ethos: 'Exciting, challenging, supportive; strong values enable children to know clear boundaries and expectations of being a good citizen.' .
