General information
Background: Lacey Gardens Junior School was built in 1953. It is set in two-and-a-half acres of fields in the eastern side of Louth, drawing its pupils from local private and council housing estates. Additions to the original buildings include an information and communications technology centre with 15 computers and a centre for pupils with special educational needs. Clubs, which take place during lunchtime and after school, 'reflect a wide range of interests' including a school orchestra,choir, instrumental tuition, football, netball, basketball, pottery, origami, computers and homework. The orchestra meets weekly and gives informal concerts to parents and friends. The school choir regularly visits old people's homes. Regular trips to the town swimming pool mean that most pupils can swim by the time they leave. The school has had associations with various charities over the years. 'It is our aim that the children and adults of Lacey Garden School achieve their full potential within a happy, safe and stimulating environment in the knowledge that their contribution is valued.' .
