General information

Background: Spalding Grammar School founded in 1588 and moved in 1881 to current site close to town centre. It has numerous extensions added to Victorian buildings and school governors own the land, buildings and 17-acres of surrounding playing fields. The new technology facilities are provided in the school in 2004 with an ICT resource centre and performing arts studio. The school has a wealth of extra-curricular activities including rugby, cricket and football are played to notable standard with representatives at county level and above. It also has successful teams in athletics, chess and cross-country. In music, school band is over 60-strong, jazz band, chamber choir and string orchestra. The school has Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. It has charity and community projects. The school has achieved Sportsmark (2004) and DfES achievement award (2002). The school aims to ensure all students and staff, opportunity to attain their potential intellectually, socially and personally in a friendly and orderly atmosphere to develop into responsible members of the community, ready to face the challenges of the wider world.
