General information

Background: William Lovell, a Yeoman, died in 1678 leaving a bequest for the education of the children of Stickney, now a village of 700 people between Boston and Spilsby. Lovell's school survived and evolved until 1959 as an all-age village school, but in 1960 the Bishop of Lincoln officially opened the present modern buildings, which have been considerable improved and extended in recent years. Situated near the centre of Stickney the school enjoys a spacious site with ample playing fields and open views of the Wolds; the latest addition being an excellent sports hall. There is a Christian Youth Group in the school. There is keen competition in a number of local leagues ? football, tennis, athletics, basketball, rounders, cricket, netball, cross-country, badminton and table-tennis. However the school retains its warm, family atmosphere centred on a strong Christian ethos which pervades its work. Strong sporting and extra-curricular provision, example: national table-tennis finalists 2003, 'Education Extra' Distinction Awards twice in last five year. Duke of Edinburgh?s Awards Scheme operates. Strong focus on charity work. The school aims to function as a large family, in which there is self-discipline, care, respect for others and a strong sense of teamwork. The school aims to provide these essentials in its small but lively and growing school, with a family atmosphere, experienced staff and traditional Christian values.
