General information

Background: Broughton Hall High School was founded in 1928. It is a voluntary aided Roman Catholic school for girls aged 11-18. In September 1998, the school was designated a Specialist Technology College by the DfES and redesignated in 2001. The school offers a sixth form which is open to Year 11 students who are prepared to show interest and application to school work. Its indoor sports facilities include gymnasium with fixed wall apparatus and a dance hall. Outdoors it has four netball courts, six tennis courts and a playing field. A variety of clubs and activities are offered after-school. These may include art, athletics, choir, drama, football, hockey, netball, tennis, information technology, literacy and music. Water sports courses abroad, day/evening and weekend and foreign trips are also arranged. From July 2003, the school was designated as Lead School in a Leading Edge Partnership. Since September 2002, the school has played a leading role in the government initiative of Networked Learning Communities. The school is committed to the Catholic education of girls through Gospel values which permeate the life of the school and aims to develop a caring, joyful and friendly community in which all can work hard and are happy. .
