General information

Background: St John Fisher is a voluntary -aided school, which provides a Catholic education for girls and boys from three to 11 years of age. The main school building provides large classrooms designed for Key Stage 1 children. The nursery is a purpose-built unit about ten years old. There are two annexe buildings for years three and four and spacious new classrooms for years five and six. There are two assembly halls, which are used for physical education, masses and concerts, lunches and music lessons as well as assemblies. The library and the group room provide extra spaces for teaching and the technology room accommodates practical activities. There is plenty of playground space and when the weather permits, the extensive grass playing fields are used for games and break times. ?The glory of God is a human being fully alive?. The school?s understanding of what it means to be human derives from the Christ of the Gospel. The aim of the school is to meet the children wherever they are on their faith journey and, in the light of the Gospel, help them on their way to be fully human. The school hopes to share with them the vision Jesus entrusted to His church of a society where men, women and children of every race, colour and culture live together in peace, truth, charity and justice, sharing the earth's goods, valuing creation and respecting the earth's resources. The school hopes that while the children are with them they will grow in knowledge and understandings of the Catholic Faith, experience being part of a Christian community where they feel respected, trusted and loved and celebrate their faith in Liturgy, Sacrament and Prayer. The school believes each child is unique and that the experience each child brings to the school should be recognised and valued. The school is committed to a caring approach that reflects the Christian nature of the community and to ensuring all the children have equal opportunities in education and in life.
