General information
Background: Strand Junior School was opened in 1912 and is a grade 2 listed building. It has a roof-top playground. The building is a two-storey block which houses the main classrooms, with a hall and administration block adjoining. Accommodation in the old building consists of eight classrooms, a dance and drama studio, a technology area, an ICT suite, art and music areas, a non-fiction library, a computer and community area, and a resource room. The school has seven interactive whiteboards and video conferencing equipment. It has after-school clubs including sport, music, drama and art. The school curriculum covers the following subjects: mathematics, English, science, information and communication technology, design technology, history, geography, geography, art, physical education, music, religious education and personal, social, citizenship and health education. The school aims to provide a calm, caring and positive environment.
