General information

Background: Founded in 1878; moved to current site in 1937; buildings set in 24 acres of playing fields, all-weather pitches, lawns and woodland, including eight science laboratories (seven of which have been refurbished), gymnasium/assembly hall, careers centre, sports hall, library, open-plan art and design centre, technology suite and sixth-form study centre. New classroom block in 2002: purpose-built ICT and music suites, and nine classrooms. Over-subscribed, with 1.1 applications per place. Sportsmark (1997). Ethos: 'Caring ethos designed to promote all-round development of each pupil.' .
