General information
Background: Situated 12 miles north of York, close to the North Yorks Moors. Draws its roots from Easingwood Grammar School which was founded in 1784. Since the opening of a bilateral site in 1954, the school has been effectively comprehensive. The main building dates from 1955-1964, with extensions for languages in 1994, a library in 1997 and mathematics in 1998. Won National Curriculum Awards in 1987, 1992 and 1997, was highly commended in the National Charter in 1995 and gained a National Sportsmark in 1997. In September 1998, 80 out of 213 admissions to Year 7 were from children living outside of the catchment area, whose parents made a preference for the school.
