General information
Background: The school founded in 1547 caters for the pupils aged 11 to 18 by the amalgamation of a grammar school and county modern in 1971. The school offers 18 subjects at advanced level, having added sociology and information technology 'A' levels in recent years. Additionally there is a Vocational Advanced Qualification (Health and Social Care) course within the sixth form. It became a specialist science college in 2004 and added four science laboratories. The school aims to provide a caring environment to inspire the individuals to fulfil their potential.
