General information

Background: Richmond is a split-site school in a 'fine setting', with Year 7 on a separate campus. It has experienced six years of 'continuous growth' and is over-subscribed, with 280 applications for 238 places. There is a 76% staying-on rate. The school offers French for all in Year 7, in addition to a choice of German and Latin in Year 8. Facilities include a new floodlit synthetic-turf pitch and hard-play area. A new study centre and careers library opened in October 1997, and a major sports hall development for community use is planned. There is 'rapid expansion' in information technology, with one computer for every 10 pupils. Richmond is one of six schools which have been invited to take part in a 100-school European Schools' Self-evaluation Project. It offers a 'wide range' of extra-curricular activities, and is proud of its 'national award-winning' wind band and wind ensemble. There is also a 'thriving' community education programme.
