General information

Background: South Graven is a large, successful, mixed, 11 to 18 comprehensive school situated on an attractive site in Cross Hills, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. The accommodation facilities include 12 science laboratories, seven Information and Communication Technology centres, two gymnasia, a sports hall, centres for modern languages, music, business education, specialist accommodation for technology, art, drama, careers education and guidance, as well as a range of classrooms devoted to specialist subjects. The school offers a wide range of subjects at GCSE, GCE A level and GNVQ intermediate. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are available to students to enrich their experience of the formal curriculum. The activities range from sport and competitive team games through instrumental groups, drama, ICT, debating, Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, to youth clubs for younger and older students and a homework club. This school has achieved the following awards: Specialist Technology College, Specialist Engineering College, Artsmark Silver and Sportsmark. The school aims to meet the needs of its students by developing the whole person in preparation for them to become active and productive citizens. .
