General information

Background: Large, forward-thinking school with unique heritage and distinctive identity; opened in 1965, but with origins in 1535, when the Church of England in Kettering started to instruct boys of the parish. Has grown from a secondary modern of 400 to a successful and popular mixed comprehensive, with a thriving sixth form. Specialist technology college status; enhanced facilities for science, information technology, and mathematics and design technology. New buildings and sports hall continue to strengthen the school's contribution to the community. Emphasises importance of the overall welfare of the individual child; encourages students to take part in large selection of extra-curricular activities. Well-regarded for outdoor education, including Duke of Edinburgh Award and educational visits. Music is a strength. Every effort is made by the school to be true to its Anglican foundation. Before-school care, from 8am; after-school care, until 5.15pm. Over-subscribed, with 1.3 applications for every place. Schools Curriculum Award (2002); Artsmark Silver (2002); Sportsmark (2003); Investor in People status (2001); DfES achievement award (2003); Leading Edge status (2004).
