General information

Background: Guilsborough School was founded in 1958, and became a comprehensive in 1967. New buildings were added in 1976. A new sixth form building and science laboratory block are being built. Most pupils come from the 30 surrounding villages and hamlets. It has two main teaching blocks including a hall, gym and administrative areas, in addition to a technology and design block and a sport, drama and music block, an all-weather sports area and playing fields. The school offers residential visits and exchanges with schools in France, Germany and Washington DC. Sporting activities include badminton, tennis, soccer, rugby, hockey, weight training, cricket, netball, basketball, trampolining, athletics, cross-country, golf, sailing, and climbing. The school band competes nationally and it is proud of its orchestral and drama productions. It also offers the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, and there is an elected school council. The school aims to achieve the best outcomes for every individual student.
