General information

Background: The Rushden Community College is spacious, located on a very pleasant landscaped site, overlooking Spencer Park. Its classrooms are well decorated, light and airy, with carpets and curtains. The college has excellent specialist accommodation. There is a flagship design and technology building, with 10 studios equipped with the most modern computer-aided design technology completed in 1992. There are eight purpose-built science laboratories, computing suites, learning resource centre and a lecture theatre. The college has specialist music teaching and practice rooms. Drama rooms provide splendid settings for creative work. Its sports facilities include pitches, netball and tennis courts, a gymnasium and a sports hall. The college offers students a wide range of clubs and activities. Music is very strong in the college. There are choirs, orchestras and other instrumental groups such as guitar and recorder. For children interested in sport the college offers hockey, netball, football, athletics, badminton, rounders, rugby, basketball, cricket, table tennis and cross-country. The teachers arrange many visits for students during college time, at weekends and in the holidays. There are regular skiing trips and land sailing residentials. The college has recently achieved specialist school status for mathematics and computing. The college aims to create a caring environment where all children can feel valued.
