General information

Background: Welford Sibbertoft and Sulby Endowed School is situated in the centre of the village of Welford and overlooking farmland, this school's original Victorian buildings were supplemented in the 1970s by a hall, an extra classroom, a practical area and a library. The village community provides activities for all ages and pupils have the opportunity to take part in hockey, cricket, football, scouts, guides, clubs and drama, all run by parents and volunteers. From 1997 to 2000, the school football team was top of the local league and won the local cup tournament. The school hall and grounds are used for village activities and church functions such as the annual Good Friday Road Show and junior amateur dramatics. In 2000 the hall staged a millennium pageant in which pupils took an active part. The children raise funds for charities, have packed Christmas gift boxes for Romanian children and also pass on Harvest Festival donations to a soup kitchen in Northampton. The school has strong links with the local church and all children attend services at festival times, with parents and friends if possible. Part of a thriving community of villages, the school's mission is, in co-operation with that community and in partnership with parents, to develop in all children a love of learning, joy in play, good health and quality of character. Extra-curricular activities of the school include: football, netball, basketball, hockey and cross-country. There are various opportunities at the school to enhance the learning of pupils. .
